The Checkly Alternative for Uptime Monitoring

Checkly meters per check run and sells status pages separately. DevHelm bundles monitoring, status pages, and dependency intelligence into flat tiers — no overages.

Switch to DevHelm if you monitor HTTP/API endpoints and want flat pricing with status pages included.
Stay with Checkly if Playwright browser checks and visual regression are core to your reliability workflow.

Why Teams Switch to DevHelm

The three differences that matter most.

monitors:
- name: api-prod
url: https://api.example.com
interval: 60s

Same IaC ergonomics, flat billing

Checkly genuinely has monitoring-as-code — Terraform, Pulumi, and a TypeScript-native CLI. Credit where it's due. The DevHelm wedge is the billing model: monitors are flat per tier, not metered per run, so scaling from 10 to 100 monitors doesn't surprise you with overage charges. Pair that with bundled status pages and vendor dependency intelligence and you replace three Checkly products with one.

You — any incidents this morning?
DevHelm — 2 active, 1 acked.

MCP server for AI agents

Cursor, Claude Desktop, and other MCP clients can query incidents, create monitors, and ack alerts directly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is DevHelm a direct Checkly replacement?▾
For HTTP, DNS, TCP, ICMP, and heartbeat monitoring — yes. DevHelm covers the same ground as Checkly Detect's uptime monitors, plus bundled status pages and dependency intelligence. If you rely on Playwright browser checks or visual regression testing, Checkly still leads there.
How does pricing compare for uptime monitoring?▾
DevHelm uses flat tiers: $0 (50 monitors), $12 (75 monitors), $29 (250 monitors). Checkly bills per check run with overages at $2.50–$6.50 per 1k runs once the monthly pool is exceeded. For HTTP/API-heavy workloads without browser tests, DevHelm is typically 50–70% cheaper.
Does DevHelm support Playwright browser checks?▾
Not yet. DevHelm focuses on protocol-level monitoring (HTTP, DNS, TCP, ICMP, MCP Server, Heartbeat). If browser-level synthetic testing is critical to your workflow, Checkly is the better fit for that use case.
Can I migrate from Checkly?▾
Yes, but there is no one-click importer. Export uptime monitors via the Checkly REST API, recreate them as DevHelm YAML or Terraform, and deploy with `devhelm deploy -f devhelm.yml --yes`. Most teams keep Playwright Check Suites in Checkly while moving protocol-level uptime checks to DevHelm.
Does Checkly have an MCP server?▾
Yes. Checkly ships an official MCP Server (Streamable HTTP) for live account data and remote actions, documented at checklyhq.com/docs/ai/overview/. DevHelm also publishes an official MCP server on PyPI, hosted at mcp.devhelm.io. Both support AI-agent workflows.
