A fix has been implemented and we are monitoring the results.
We've identified the cause of domain registration being unable to give advice and are working on implementing a fix. We'll continue to post on our status page with any new information or updates.
From Saturday, July 18, 2026, to Friday, October 23, 2026, some customers using the New Domain Registration Advice features in Prevent and Defend received empty or incorrect data for many domains. This issue was caused by a defect at a third-party domain registration data provider. The provider stopped refreshing its records on July 18, 2026, and left blank creation dates for newly registered domains. Many older records also became outdated. As a result, the New Domain Registration Advice features in both products had no data or incorrect data for those domains. To resolve this issue, our team alerted and worked with the provider to correct the defect and restore missing records. Prevent and Defend returned to normal performance by 14:55 \(UTC\) on October 23, 2026. To prevent this type of issue in the future, we’ve added monitoring that alerts us to empty domain registration responses and outdated domain records. To make these features more resilient, we’re also evaluating additional sources for domain registration information. No data loss occurred as a result of this issue.
